The Nib Magazine has been shortlisted for the 2018 Stack Awards. Stack Magazines identified inspiring, global, independent magazines published between October 2017 and September 2018. To be recognized for these prestigious international publishing and design awards for the premier issue is an amazing feat. It is also a fitting tribute to the vision and hard work of Nib founder, Matt Bors, The Nib editorial and design teams, First Look Productions, and all the comic artists who contributed to this endeavour. I must admit it’s also nice as the designer and an illustration contributor, to be recognized alongside a vast array of global talent pushing the limits of modern independent magazine design.
The Nib Magazine was shortlisted for the following awards:
Cover of the Year, judged by design legend and writer Steven Heller, and Jaap Bemoans, the man behind coverjunkie.com and art director of Volkskrant Magazine.
Best Use of Illustration, judged by Jon Cockley founder of the illustration agency Handsome Frank and Simon Armstrong, book buyer for Tate Modern, Tate Britain and Tate Liverpool.
Best Original Non-Fiction, judged by Mike Dang is the editor-in-chief of Longreads, and Rob Alderson is managing editor of WeTransfer.
Best of luck and congratulations to all of the nominees.
