The Top 20 Things I Learned at ICON6

1.     Most illustrators are very nice (unlike a design conference where people think who they are).
2.     The best/most interesting person/speaker in the world is Wayne White.
3.     Tim Biskup is pretty awesome too.
4.     Disney animators are the most boring people in the world.
5.     Disney animators feel it is their God-given right to wear Hawaiian shirts.
6.    “Make it Move.” Everyone thinks that animation is the future of illustration.
7.     Everyone over the age of 25 is really pissed off that animation is the future of illustration.
8.     Editorial is dead (unless it’s animated for the iPad).
9.     If you want to sell shit on Etsy, you really have to dumb it down.
10.   Etsy customers really like animals.
11.   Biskup does portraits in bars. Nice ones-$20. Ugly ones-free.
12.   Most people are cheap and choose the ugly ones. Then get mad.
13.   The thing I hate about 4 star hotels…golf is always on the TV in the lobby bar. Fuck you golf.
14.   Dior fashion illustrator Bil Donovan is pretty amazing.
15.   To get your work into galleries it’s who you know, not who you blow.

20.   Jason Holley proved that you can “Make it Move” without having to master After Effects.
