Tip the Balance was created in 2019 for Manchester’s People’s History Museum. The exhibition, The Past, Present + Future of Protest was a year-long program celebrating the 200-year anniversary of the Peterloo Massacre. Because Perterloo is a major event in the history of Britain’s labor and democratic movements, it was an honor to contribute to the exhibition. A belated thank you to Dr. Daniel Cookney (FHEA), Lecturer in Graphic Design, School of Arts and Media, University of Salford, for the invitation.

From my artist’s statement: At its heart, protest is a statement for or against cultural or political events, policies, and ideas. A tipping of the scales from the oppressed against entrenched power. For every expression of dissatisfaction or contentment with the status quo, new power dynamics are set in an eternal struggle for influence and control.
