Italy is Outside From the World Wide Ones

The disgraceful and downright embarrassing exit by Italia from the 2010 World Cup today reminded me of the last time Italy failed big time at Mondiali; 2002. This is one of the sketches I did when Italy was unceremoniously bounced from the round of 16 by South Korea. The headline was a Google translation from an Italian web site.

Some other translated gems I wrote down at the time included a quote from striker Alexander del Piero “I re-enter of the national one, applauses and hiss”, and this translation of the Ecuadorian referee Byron Moreno on his 2nd yellow card and expulsion of Francissco Totti “The simulation has been much clear one for me, like has confirmed the video of the FIFA…the instructions of the international committe in merit are precise; Cartellino Yellow.”

I predict the Azzurri to return home to applauses and hiss, rotten fruit and much of the malocchio.
