Folk Music Reject
Woody Guthrie, Ivar Haglund, Pete Seeger and Terry Pettus.By Mark Kaufman
I recently did an illustration for the Seattle Metropolitan Magazine music issue, about the radical folk scene in Seattle in the 1940s. Here is a rejected sketch that I really liked which features portraits of lefty luminaries Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, music and clam chowder legend, Ivar Haglund, and the rabble rousing journalist and organizer Terry Pettus. That’s Terry in the center of the big red star. And a big thanks to the swell art director over there, Mr. William Quinby.
