An aside. The week this happened I was in New York staying across the street from the Sofitel (at the seriously more downscale, yet still very classy Mansfield Hotel). For days as the story unfolded there were local, national and international news trucks lined up on 44th street round the clock. Along with one very enterprising Mr. Softee truck.
