Walter Cronkite. Over the Moon.By Mark Kaufman
Happy/Sad Dept: RIP Walter Cronkite. Happy Anniversary Apollo 11. As a boy of 8 years old when Apollo 11 landed on the moon, I can’t begin to tell those who were not born yet how fucking exciting that was.
As exciting as it was for an 8 year old, watching a wizened old newsman who covered WWII, the cold war, the Kennedy assasination, and the Vietnam war get as giddy as me when the eagle landed on the moon was just as fun. Thank you Mr. Cronkite for sharing your enthusiasm with me, thanks for explaining complicated spacey concepts to my tiny mind, thanks for taking me on a thrill ride to the stars. Thank you.

July 22, 2009Came here from your comment at my site–what great cartoons! Though I should also say that your link through to Galactic Central, with all of those magazine covers, will lead to literally hours of my life disappearing as I gawp in wonder at the artwork there.

July 22, 2009I concur about getting lost in time at the Galactic Central site. As I mentioned I plan on doing the same at Caustic Critic.
Sunshine is overrated.
Cheers.
