Another One Bites the Dust

Gold dust that is. Conde Nast is shuttering Portfolio. Go ahead have a good cry. For all of the bad news surrounding magazines, newspapers and publishing, here’s one that I don’t think I really give a shit about. If ever a magazine was wrong for the times it seems that Portfolio is that magazine. I’m not really sure what the magazine was ever about or for. Titans of Wall Street? Political movers and shakers? The people that did interior design on their Miami penthouses and Montauk mansions? With economic turmoil the world over it doesn’t seem that the demographic for those that fly first-class or have fractional jet ownership would ever be large enough to keep this ode to the rich and famous afloat. If and when Mac & Cheese Aficionado Magazine folds then we’re really in trouble. This just seems to be a “market correction“ as they say.
